Various Pension Details

1. NATIONAL DISABILITY PENSION SCHEME (IGNDPS) (Under National Social Assistance Programme – NSAP)

Eligibility:

    • Age: 18 to 59 years
    • Disability: 80% or more (physical or mental)
    • Must belong to a Below Poverty Line (BPL) household
    • Should not be receiving other central/state pensions

Pension Amount:

    • 300 per month from Central Government
    • Many states top up the pension (₹500–₹1500 total, varies)

Required Documents:

    • Disability Certificate (from a Govt. Medical Board)
    • Aadhaar Card
    • BPL / SECC proof
    • Bank account details
    • Passport size photo

How to Apply:

    • Offline: Submit application at the Village Office / Taluk Office / Social Welfare Office
    • Online (where available): Via state-specific social welfare portals or https://nsap.nic.in

2. STATE DISABILITY PENSION – KERALA (INCLUSIVE OF NSAP)

In Kerala, persons with disabilities receive a consolidated monthly pension under two schemes:Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension (IGNDPS) – Central + State

    • Paid through Local Self-Government Institutions (LSGIs).
    • Merged with the state scheme.

Kerala State Disability Pension Scheme

    • Known locally as “Bhinnasheshiyude Pensionscheme”
    • Managed by Social Justice Department & Local Bodies

Eligibility:

    • Kerala Resident
    • Disability ≥ 40% (per new RPwD Act, 2016)
    • No age bar (child or adult)
    • Annual family income: below ₹1,00,000
    • Not receiving other government pensions (except widow/old age may be merged with care allowance)

Pension Amount (as of 2025):

    • 1600 per month (standard)
    • Additional ₹1000/month caregiver allowance (for bedridden/severely disabled with 75%+ disability)

Required Documents:

    1. Disability certificate (Medical Board issued or UDID)
    2. Aadhaar card
    3. Recent photo
    4. Income certificate (from Village Office)
    5. Bank passbook copy
    6. Proof of residence (Ration card or certificate)

How to Apply in Kerala:

Offline Application:

    • Visit your Village Office / Municipality / Panchayat Office
    • Submit the filled application form with required documents
    • Application will be forwarded to Social Welfare Department via LSGI Secretary
    • Verification by Welfare Standing Committee

Online Application:

    1. Visit https://welfarepension.lsgkerala.gov.in/
    2. Choose “Disability Pension
    3. Fill the form with Aadhar, bank details, and upload scanned documents
    4. Track status using Aadhar or Application number

 KSSM Disability Pension Scheme (Vayomadhuram / Aswasakiranam / PwD Pension)

    • Scheme Name:
    • Pension for Differently Abled Persons (also known as Vikalanga Pension)
    • Implementing Agency:

Kerala Social Security Mission (KSSM)
Under the Department of Social Justice, Government of Kerala

4. Eligibility Criteria:

Requirement Description
Residency Must be a permanent resident of Kerala
Disability Minimum 40% disability, certified by a Govt. Medical Board
Income Annual family income should be less than ₹1,00,000
Other Pensions Not receiving other government disability pensions
Age No age restriction – applicable to children, adults, and elderly with disabilities

5. Pension Amount:

    • 1600 per month (regular pension)
    • Additional ₹1000/month as Caregiver Allowance for:
      • Persons with ≥75% disability
      • Persons with multiple disabilities
      • Bedridden or in need of constant care

The pension is credited monthly to the beneficiary’s bank account or post office account.

  3. Income certificate from Village Office
  4. Bank account details (passbook copy)
  5. Ration card / Domicile certificate
  6. Passport size photograph
  7. Self-declaration if not receiving other pensions

7.How to Apply:

    • Offline Method:
    1. Collect application form from your Grama Panchayat / Municipality / Corporation office.
    2. Submit the completed form with required documents.
    3. Verification is done by the LSG secretary and Welfare Standing Committee.
    4. Pension is sanctioned and disbursed via LSGIs with KSSM support.
