πŸ› 1979 – Establishment

  • The Corporation was founded by the Government of Kerala as a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) to promote the welfare, rehabilitation, and empowerment of persons with disabilities in Kerala.

πŸ§‘β€ 1980s–1990s – Foundational Rehabilitation Services

  • Started distributing basic assistive devices like tricycles, crutches, and hearing aids.
  • Initiated small-scale vocational training programs for PwDs.

🏦 2000s – Establishment of MRSTC

Β (Manufacturing , Repairing, ServicingΒ  and Training Center )

🏦 2000s – Expansion into Financial Assistance

  • Partnered with NHFDC (National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation) to provide loans and subsidies for self-employment of persons with disabilities.
  • Launched subsidy-linked motorized tricycle schemes for orthopedically disabled individuals.
  • NHFDC provides loans to persons with disabilities in kerala at nominal interest rate.

🏒 2005 – Regional Offices @ Ernakulam

🏒 2012 – Regional Offices @ Kozhikode

🦿 2015–2016 – Major Distribution Drive

  • Under the ADIP Scheme, distributed:
    • 1,658 assistive devices
    • 3,928 aids and appliances
    • 500 motorized scooters (including SC-specific distribution)
    • 47 motorized tricycles with state subsidy
  • Implemented a Fixed Deposit Scheme for severely disabled children.

🚐 2018 – Shubhayatra Mobility Project

  • Introduced advanced motorized wheelchairs, enabling free mobility to selected beneficiaries.

πŸ› οΈ 2018 – MRST Centre at Kottamam

  • Modernized and Re-Established a Manufacturing, Repair, Servicing & Training (MRST) Centre to ensure quality and timely servicing of assistive devices.

πŸ’Ό 2019 – Entrepreneurship Support

  • Scaled up support for disabled entrepreneurs through targeted financial support and soft-skills training.

  • Upgraded and renovated with innovative machineries of MRST-Kottamam, Thiruvananthapuram.

  • Under the kaivaliya scheme the amount of 37.23 CR realized with 7449 applicants of disabled persons.
